What is an AI Policy?
An AI policy is a set of rules that helps your staff understand:
- How they can and cannot use AI tools at work
- What tools can and should be used
- What types of data are safe to share with AI tools
- How to protect client and organizational confidentiality when using AI tools
- Who must review or approve AI-generated content
- What ethical standards must be upheld
- What training staff may be required to complete prior to using AI
Before You Start

- Writing drafts?
- Summarizing meetings?
- Brainstorming ideas?
- What types of information are they working with?
- Is any of it private or confidential?
- What existing policies do you already have?
- Think about data privacy, cybersecurity, or legal ethics policies that this new policy needs to align with.[
