What is the Justice Tech Directory?
This Directory is a searchable table of technology products which aim to serve the general public with their legal concerns. Some products may also involve a paralegal or lawyer, while others may not.
What is a justice tech company?
Justice tech companies are impact-driven organizations which prioritize consumer protection and are committed to empowering their communities in navigating the legal system.
Who is the Justice Tech Directory for?
The Directory can be used by legal aid, courts, and people seeking help for their own personal legal issue (often people who cannot afford a lawyer or want to solve the problem without a lawyer).
How can I use the Justice Tech Directory?
1. Search by legal problem or the location of the problem (jurisdiction) or another factor that is important to you.
2. Conduct your own research on the company to see if they might be able to solve your legal need.
Why is this resource available?
The Justice Tech Directory was created to increase awareness of options beyond self-help and legal aid. If those options are not available to you, the companies on this list may be able to help you solve your legal issue. Some resources are free and some have a cost associated.
What other resources should I consider?
If you are located in Franklin County, Ohio, consider these local resources:
1) Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio (LASCO) to see if you qualify for free services
2) The Columbus Bar Association’s Find a Lawyer can help you identify which type of lawyer you may want and search for a local attorney.

For all locations in the US:
1) Visit the government’s website at https://www.usa.gov/legal-aid for comprehensive listing of resources
2) Many state bar associations offer a “Find a Lawyer” service which may have a low cost or free consultation. Search by location here:
https://www.americanbar.org/groups/lawyer_referral/resources/lawyer-referral-directory/
3) You might also search for legal “self-help” centers in your state or region which are typically connected to either the court (government) system or a legal aid non-profit.
How often is the Directory updated?
This resource is a work in progress that is updated as new information becomes available.
Why is a company on the list (or not)?
The Directory includes companies which have a product available to the general public that is typically at a cost lower than a traditional lawyer (possibly free).
These companies were identified by LSNTAP staff or submitted by the individual companies.
Who is involved in making this resource available?
The Directory is a collaboration between LSNTAP, the Justice Tech Association, and the Duke Center on Law & Tech.
